Announcing Black Boots Venue Rentals’ Selection for Hartford Foundation’s Social Enterprise Accelerator 🎉

We’re excited to share that Black Boots Venue Rentals at the Mary Fields Museum & Conference Center has been selected to participate in the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving’s Social Enterprise Accelerator program! This 30‑month initiative—from April 2025 through late 2027—supports nonprofits across Greater Hartford in building sustainable earned‑income ventures.

What This Means for Us

As part of a cohort of four mission-driven organizations, Black Boots Venue Rentals has received:

  • Expert guidance from No Margin, No Mission to sharpen our business strategy

  • Customized business planning and implementation coaching

  • Fundraising and startup-capital support to successfully launch and grow our events venture

This builds on a proven model: since 2019, 24 local nonprofits have participated, generating over $16 million in revenue through mission-aligned social enterprises.

Why It Matters

Strengthens Sustainability: This funding and support help us grow our venue rental services—enhancing events with equine activities like horseback riding, hayrides, and more—all aligned with our core mission.

Values-Driven Entrepreneurship: Joining the Accelerator connects us with peers and mentors committed to nonprofit innovation, building Black Boots Venue Rentals as both a mission-driven and revenue-generating entity.

Deepens Community Engagement: We’re engaging our local audience in new ways—through events and experiences that bring people together around equestrian learning and cultural celebration.

Looking Ahead

Over the coming months, we’ll:

  1. Raise and secure startup funds (benefiting from Hartford Foundation matching where applicable)

  2. Launch marketing and outreach to drive bookings

  3. Begin hosting events enhanced with equine activities, and sharing our journey with you
